Intro to the Guides and Sample Meal Plans

This guide is meant to help you implement the AMD Nutrition Treatment Plan.  We know that there is, at first glance, an overwhelming amount of information in the plan.  But, we promise that you will quickly find our AMD Nutrition Treatment Plan to be a practical way to eat.  The key to it all is this: you will go from (at first) needing to carefully follow the treatment plan each day for your meals to, eventually, making this style of eating a habit which you do not need to put much thought into.

Before we begin, we will briefly address the sample 1-week meal plans.  These are an excellent way to follow the nutrition treatment plan!  They are provided as an example of what a week that matches all of the parameters could look like.  They have been carefully constructed by our team to be both delicious, nutritious, and to hit (and in many cases exceed) all the parameters of the AMD Nutrition Treatment Plan. We encourage you to spend your first two weeks following the  1-week sample plans as best you can, as that will accomplish a few things for you.  First of all, it will show you how good you can feel after just a few weeks of eating this way.  Second, it will help you to experience the cuisines commonly used in “Food is Medicine” so you can see how delicious they are.  It will also give you a good sense of what you like (and don’t like) so you can better approach your own meal planning in the future. 

However, keep in mind that the included meal plans are purposefully incredibly dense.  There is a different recipe for every single meal, meaning that in 7 days you will cook 21 times. While we hope that you will stick with this for 1-2 weeks, we would never expect you to continue eating that way forever.  It is much more practical to do things like eat dinner leftovers for lunch the next day, or to just have the same quick and easy breakfast each morning.  Also, we know that you will occasionally go out for dinner or have meals that are not on the plan.  That is okay!  We purposefully included 21 different recipes in each week to give you as many potential ideas to work with when you, in the future, are planning your own meals.  But please do not worry that you need to cook / prepare food that often in order to follow our plan and obtain the benefits!
